Preservation and protection of your scrapbook is very important.
It will be quite discouraging and disheartening to discover that your scrapbook will not stand the test of time after having put in a great deal of time, thought and effort into your scrapbooking, and as such you should try to protect and preserve your scrapbook.
Scrapbooks are captured memories - which make them a powerful thing.
If you're going to put memories in a book, you're going to want to do it in the best way you can. After all, you're going to be sharing this with countless friends and family for generations to come.
The most important way to protect your pages is by using lignin free and acid free products.
Lignin free and acid free protects will reduce yellowing and crumbling.
Both acid and lignin accelerate photo fading and general deterioration. Lignin is a chemical found naturally in the cell walls of plants. If the lignin is not removed in the paper manufacturing process, the chemical will cause the paper product to gradually yellow and crumble. Lignin and acid free products come in virtually any color and texture.
You can also, use colored paper or ink that is resistant to fading due to age, exposure to light, heat, and other unfavorable conditions.
To protect your page from the outside world, use Mylar or page protectors.
Special page protectors for three-dimensional pages are also available at most craft stores. These protection pages not only protect your objects but also reduce indentations caused by three-dimensional objects.
